Growing up as a child, when my father returned from work, he invited my siblings and me to the dining table to have dinner with him, and many mornings, he woke us early to have our family devotions. On these family bonding occasions, my father will share his childhood story with us which has shaped my worldviews and opinions, and not only that, His story has given Me a PURPOSE.

BeautyfromAshes is a representation of the story of a young, poor, little, stuttering boy, Mr Godwin Nelson, who in his early childhood had gone through the trauma of an absent father, who had five wives, a poor mother who was the fifth wife who had hoped for his death at 3 years old because she didn’t have what it took to raise him.

When he was a young boy in primary school, Mr Godwin used to stutter, making him feel inferior. He only had one school uniform, which he had to patch up with different fabrics and colours with the help of his supportive uncle, a tailor. Despite facing bullying and child labour, Mr Godwin never gave up and overcame all the odds and barriers. Today, he is an engineer and has worked at multinational and local oil & engineering firms. His story is a testament to the fact that no matter where we come from, who our parents are, where we grew up, or what our gender is, we can turn our ashes into a beautiful story.

Unfortunately, 55 years later, millions of children don’t have access to quality education and are suffering from the effects of absent fathers. BeautyfromAshes is committed to changing this narrative for millions of these children.

History of Impact

As a little boy, I watched my Mum distribute clothes, and food and even provided shelter for free to the lesser privileged folks. In the early 90s, as part of my father’s contribution to the little town we lived in, Effurun, Delta State of Nigeria, my Father established a Computer Training Institute when PCs were unpopular. Through the institute, my family was able to train thousands of the indigenous and local population in soft skills that empowered locals to become economically independent.

Having been raised in an impact-driven family, it is no wonder I am continuing this Legacy to reach out to millions of children worldwide and share our story to inspire and give hope. I welcome you to join us on this incredible journey.
